Notorious J.I.G. to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with a folk hip hop ceilidh
A band that plays traditional folk tunes with a modern twist have organised a ceilidh, sometimes called a barn dance, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year.
Performing at Bagley Sports & Social Club, Shrewsbury on Saturday 16 March, Notorious J.I.G. will be mixing the hottest breaks from old school and modern hip hop, disco and funk with blistering traditional tunes on fiddle and accordion. Established in 2017 Notorious J.I.G. have built up quite a reputation as an alternative entertainment option for weddings, birthday parties and other dedicated events as well as carving out a niche in the UK folk festival circuit.
Commenting on the forthcoming event and people’s initial reaction to the band, Jared Jackson, a self-confessed electronica and hip hop music aficionado, said: “Our audiences are never quite sure what to expect but once we start, they become eager participants in a truly unique experience. Even though our ceilidhs are suitable for all ages and abilities MC Dan will explain the moves and we’ll be joined by our special guest, award winning DJ Mister Fox, who will be sure to keep everyone on the dance floor in between sets. We look forward to welcoming everyone on 16 March to celebrate St Patrick’s Day 2024 with a twist!”
Doors open 7.30pm on 16 March for the hip hop ceilidh at Bagley Sports & Social Club. Tickets are £10 (£3 for U16s) and available to book online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/notorious-jig or £12 (cash only) on the door.
